SEIU 790 endorsed Chris Daly today at a noon rally at City Hall. There were probably more than a hundred people there. Here are some pictures:
I’ve uploaded a poor-quality unedited minute-long video of Chris speaking. You can watch it here if you have flash.

How can SEIU endorse Chris Daly when the members have not even voted? Oops, I forgot the members exist only to fund the union so that the paid staff working for the members can go on lavish “retreats” and get reimbursed for $200/month gas money even though their job doesn’t require that they use a car.
What a travesty SEIU has become.

Hi Jo,
The members of Local 790 voted on the early endorsement of Supervisor Daly. Under our bylaws, the SF Regional Conference elected delegates are the endorsing body of Local 790. They voted unanimously to endorse Sup Daly at their July meeting. If you are a 790 member, then you voted on the bylaws and you voted on the delegate for your chapter. That’s the democratic process of Local 790.

I always have a problem seeing little children carrying campaign signs and dressed in shirts supporting a particular candidate or cause. Nothing is worse than seeing a little child on a T.V. commercial advocating an issue. They just aren’t old enough to make an informed opinion of their own. They just end up parroting what their parents’ tell them.

I’d be interested in knowing why the Daly endorsement? It seems that most of the District 6 candidates have hardly had time to make their case at all.
I’m also suprised that Rob Black wasn’t more well considered given his Union background with the SAG.
In my opinion Daly has not done very well for labor in this town and I think it’s time for someone new.
