Today was another crucial day for the District 6 Supervisor campaign, and there was another good turnout for Daly. Probably not quite as big as last week, but there were quite a few folks, nonetheless.

Crowd waiting to go out

Aaron Peskin MC’d and both Leah Shahum, from the Bicycle coalition, and Tom Ammiano spoke, as well as a couple other people. Chris gave one of his better speeches, which really fired folks up. He underlined the fact that if he loses, San Francisco will be in deep trouble.

Supervisor

It was a pretty good day of door-knocking, and we ID’d quite a few Daly voters. We ran into a guy who was on his way to San Juaquin County to help out with McNerney, and it reminded me how incredibly annoying it is that I have to knock on doors for Daly, when I could be helping to get rid of one of the worst members of Congress. Richard Pombo thanks you, Rob Black.

Speaking of Rob Black, Gavin showed up with Black in his shadow.

Gavin fronts for Rob Black

I was impressed with Gavin’s popularity, even among some of the folks for whom 16th and Mission is pretty much their living room. Folks were eager to meet the Mayor, and were willing to shake Rob Black’s hand to do it.

Once Newsom left, however, the Black contingent found it hard to get an audience, especially given his group of supporters, who, with one exception, didn’t really fit in in the neighborhood.

One for us, one for him
