The cutely named SNAFU (the San Francisco Neighborhood Antenna-Free Union) has filed an appeal against the ruling that the Earthlink Wi-Fi plan does not need an environmental review.

While I understand their ostensible point–that this is a pretty big project to happen without environmental review–I think that the science is pretty clear that the amount of radiation put out by the Wi-Fi nodes is small, and pretty much non-threatening to anyone with more than a cursory knowledge of physics.

While I think there are plenty of reasons to be critical of the deal (as anyone who reads my posts here knows), the likely health effects is not one of them. If you are serious about protecting San Franciscans from environmental harm, let’s start with cars and power plants and go from there.

I would, however, be open to providing everyone who feels they need it protection against the evil wi-fi waves:
