BOE Meeting To Approve 07-08 Budget at 5 p.m.-No Published Agenda (Violation of Brown Act)
While there is a notice that the 6/26/07 Board of Education’s regular meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at 555 Franklin Street, there isn’t an agenda for the meeting.
Under the Brown Act (the requirements for public meetings), agendas need to be published at least 72 hours before the meeting.
Since this is the meeting where the Board will approve the final budget for 07-08. The proposed budget shows that most of $5.6 million additional dollars will be spent on the administration.
Eleven schools’ budgets will be cut. Nine are STAR schools that serve low-income children, including Willie Brown Academy in the Bayview, Dr. Charles Drew Elementary School in the Bayview, John Muir ES in the Western Addition, Burton High School in Portola, and Sheridan ES and Jose Ortega ES, both in the OMI (Oceanside-Merced-Ingleside).
Here is the current website as of 10:20 p.m on Sunday, June 24:

I tried to create a pdf of the file, but our php file does not accept html files.

The agenda is here: 06/26/07 Regular Board of Education Meeting Agenda
I find it troubling that the proposed budget has not been made available on-line. This is a serious regression from the past two years.
