Get Out And Vote, Get Out And Volunteer
When all is said and done, the most important thing on the ballot is not defeating Joe Nation. The most important thing on the ballot is defeating Prop 98 and saving rent control. Period. So get out and vote now at City Hall so you can volunteer tomorrow to save rent control. Go. Now. You can vote in the basement. Do it at lunch.
There really is no excuse. You can spend part of tomorrow at some point helping. Go to 16th and Folsom. The office is under the All Star Hotel. Do it. You can volunteer today too.
I forgot to tell you I am on the ballot. But more important than me is the slate. We need to win a progressive majority on the Democratic County Central Committee. So vote for the HOPE/CHANGE/GUARDIAN/TENANTS UNION slate. They are all the same good folks. In fact, if a majority wins, and I don’t, I am happy. This is about the movement, not individuals.
With much love and respect,
Robert

Robert, you know perfectly well that the Guardian and the “change” slate are NOT “the same.” They basically agree on everything except Migden-Leno. The “Change” slate is INTENTIONALLY DECEPTIVE because it suggests that the Guardian endorsed Migden.
That’s why anyone who supports Migden should not in good conscience carry the Change slate. If you want to support the Change slate, that’s cool — but don’t use the Guardian’s name in that case. It’s dishonest.

Paul,
I think you should re-read what Robert wrote because you are misunderstanding it. Also, stop being so paranoid, defensive and cynical about what other people are saying and doing. But most importantly, calm the fuck down.

Yeah, Matt. Right…
So anybody with any kind of specious belief should be able to attach the “Bay Guardian” seal of approval to their flyers without a wisp of guilt?
The Bay Guardian itself complained about this dirty tactic. Isn’t that proof enough that it is wrong?

One would think that you would have to ask permission from the Bay Guardian before you stamped the Bay Guardian logo on your advertisement.
Is that a reasonable request?
Or am I just being so, so, like, way tooo ethical?

Bolshi,
You are going off on a tangent like Paul did. But to respond to your point: I do think what Chris did was wrong. That was never in dispute. But I don’t think that Chris is liar or is being sleazy, as Paul cynically assumes. I think that Chris’ powerful passions get in the way of his better judgment (not unlike Paul, I might add).

Boy. Communication sucks. I meant that the endorsements for the DCCC were the same and they are. Anyway, vote. Volunteer. Get active.
Peace,
Robert

Thanks, Robert, for the clarification. And good luck to you!

I agree that everyone should vote.
But I think that the most important item on the ballot is Proposition A.
We also disagree on the members of the DCCC, especially in the 12th (where I live). My experience that some of the “progressive” candidates tend to take credit for other people’s work-and I want someone who is willing to work on the DCCC.
So for the DCC, I do urge people to vote for Eric Mar, Jake McGoldrick, Emily Drennan, Jane Morrison and Hene Kelly.

During the time I went to voted today (at Starr King ES) there were NO other voters present. Apparently fewer than 20 other voters had preceeded me in the first couple hours of voting. I hope this is not representative of polling places in SF today.

Prop F lost.
Another example of an election bought by corporate interests.
We need public campaign financing, even for ballot propositions. Public housing and the collective will are dying in the face of private-sector land grabs.
