The JCCC sponsored its anual Kindergarten Information Night last night.

At Kindergarten Information Night, parents are invited to talk with representatives from public and private schools. I was there to represent the 2nd District PTA. Even though John Muir ES had asked to be on the mailing list for booths, we didn’t get the notice. But John Muir ES was able to get a table when one of the schools that had RSVPed didn’t show up. Our table was chaired by John Muir ES’ PTA President, Gail Baugh.

Many of the parents were looking at future schools for their two and three year olds. A couple of the parents were looking for schools for their unborn child.

SFUSD was also there with Darlene Lim, director of the Education Placement Center. Her table gave parents the lottery process for school assignment.

It was easy to sell these parents the idea of being involved in their children’s school. Some of parents dismissed the idea, but approximately 90% of the parents were eager to hear details about their child’s PTA.

The public schools that were represented included John Muir ES, Leonard Flynn ES, Lilienthal ES, McKinney ES, Clarendon ES, Dianne Feinstein ES, Claire Lilienthal ES, Argonne ES, Alamo ES, Peabody ES, Grattan ES, Jose Ortega ES, Lafayette ES, Marshall ES, Miraloma ES, New Traditions Creative Arts ES, Rosa Parks ES, Sherman ES, Spring Valley ES, Starr King ES, Sunnyside ES, Sunset ES and Sutro ES.
