I haven’t written much about the State Senate race. Although I have my preference, I think we’ll do OK if either Leno or Migden wins. It’s pretty clear, though, that a win for Joe Nation will be a bad thing for California, and San Francisco in particular.
Given that he’s running pretty much as the Marin alternative, it seems funny he’s chosen a San Francisco politician to emulate. What’s even funnier: it’s Ed Jew.
In papers filed with the state, Nation claims to live in a sparsely adorned apartment at 126 Tuscany Place in Sonoma. According to state election law, “A person does not gain a domicile in any precinct into which he or she comes for temporary purposes merely, without the intention of making that precinct his or her home.” The law seems clear: Nation should intend to live in the apartment he claims to currently live in. However, Nation’s apartment is listed for rent on Craigslist, and when asked about the property’s availability, the property manager said the apartment will be available in “mid-June,”For someone who’s running as the landlords’ candidate, you’d think he could have asked them to keep it off the market until after the primary!
I’d hope we’ll see Migden and Leno people filing suit against this carpetbagger Monday morning!
UPDATE: It’s been raised that Nation may not be lying about where he lives. Fair enough. He should still answer the question, though, about why his apartment is up for rent.

Maybe he’s already seen the poll numbers and is assuming he’ll have no need for a residence in Sonoma after next week.

Don’t think you’ve made the case that Joe has an Ed Jew-type problem. If Joe doesn’t live in District 3, then where does he live?
Certain people alleged a similar thing with Carole Migden. Wasn’t true, didn’t stick.
Just saying.
