Dear friends,
As many of you know, I ran as part of a slate for DCCC that we referred to as the HOPE slate, and later as the Change slate. At times this slate generated controversy, but ultimately, we were able to secure several more seats on the DCCC. Much thanks goes to Supervisor Chris Daly and Supervisor Aaron Peskin for encouraging people to run and much thanks goes to you for helping to make it a reality. We are now fortunate to have elected a strong, independent and progressive group of Democrats.
This was not about any one candidate winning; it was about all of us winning together.
I am honored to have been part of that effort and am incredibly grateful for your support and for your vote.
I will do my best to be accountable to the values that we share and encourage you to reach out to me if you have questions or thoughts on issues that the local Democratic Party faces to ensure that we are working together to make the Party more accountable, progressive, and relevant to working people.
Thank you for all that you do.
Peace,
Robert

Hi Robert,
As I understand it, the DCCC is going to introduce “policy statements” to the Supervisors as a way to lobby them into passing progressive causes. I was hoping you could tell me some of the policies that the new DCCC plans on proposing.
Also, as you mentioned, the DCCC acts as a way to funnel resources to Democrats who are running for office. I’m assuming that this kind of money is usually reserved for conservative candidates and that any money funneled into the new DCCC will slow down now that it is progressive. In addition, any money with the express intent of being devoted to the conservative candidates would be vetoed by the new DCCC, correct?

Hey Matt,
The sort of abuses that I am talking about haven’t happened in a long time nor do I suspect that they will happen in the next two years.
As for policy statements, we have been doing that for years. If you go to our website, you will find numerous resolutions that were later introduced at the Board of Supervisors.
Thanks for asking.
Best,
Robert
