SOCIAL JUSTICE, ANTI-WAR AND PRO-QUEER RIGHTS MOVEMENTS IT IS TIME TO STAND WITH SF AND BAY AREA IMMIGRANTS!
After staging a powerful pro-immigrant rights rally in city hall today where more than 400 turned out with 2 days notice, the Minutemen want to counter and pressure our city to end Sanctuary City protections for local families. WE NEED OUR ANTI-RACISTS – SOCIAL JUSTICE ALLIES TO STAND WITH US TOMORROW and have a strong turn out to stand against the Minutemen. WE CAN NOT ALLOW OUR CITY TO BE BULLIED BY THE MINUTEMEN’S AGGRESSIVE TACTICS.
We have confirmed that the Minutemen have reserved the front steps of SF City Hall tomorrow, Wednesday, July 30, at 11 am, to hold a press conference/ rally to attack our city’s Sanctuary Law. We must not allow their messages of hate to further arouse people’s fears and insecurities around Sanctuary!
PLEASE JOIN US FOR A COUNTER PROTEST!
We will meet at 10:30 am, on the lawn in front of City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Pl. Please bring drums, bells, whistles, etc. to make some noise!

What a bunch of intimidating, aggressive bullies!?! How dare those evil minutemen voice their point of view by exercising their right of public assembly and free speech!

The issue is not free speech but hate speech. Free speech has limits. They are free to come and rally and we are free to organize and out number them (which we did beautifully). It is a message of hate and intolerance and why should we allow that. They are not open to rational debate and an exchange of ideas. It is like dealing with the KKK or gay bashers. Since it is not really speech they bring but hate we should shut them down no matter where they go. We fight for the right to be free and live our lives, they are the few that impose oppression and hatred. It only took a few nazis to exterminate the German/Euro gay population and the rest of the country watched it happen. If we do not remember and shut down hate where ever it raises its ugly head they we too are guilty of silently letting the hate seep in and destroy our communities!!!
