Leftinsfers
Don’t you just love living in San Francisco? After passing nearly unanimously at the Democratic County Central Committee, Supervisor Chris Daly has submitted the following resolution to the Board of Supervisors. Hurray. Impeach Bush, but Impeach Cheney first!!!
Please come next Tuesday for a press conference in support of the resolution!!! 12 PM, Front steps of City Hall. Yeah Chris!
Resolution calling for a full investigation, impeachment or resignation of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney.
WHEREAS, It has been alleged as follows: President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney have committed the crimes of misleading the American people and Congress into waging an unnecessary war in Iraq, a High Crime under Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution; and
WHEREAS, The Bush/Cheney Administration has authorized torture against human beings in violation of the Geneva Conventions and the Conventions Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhumane, or Degrading Treatment or Punishment; and
WHEREAS, President Bush had disregarded his Presidential duty to the citizens of the United States of America when he and his appointed head of Federal Emergency Management Agency failed to quickly and adequately respond to a major disaster on United States soil, Hurricane Katrina, which killed at least 1,383 people in the Gulf Coast Region and left over 78,000 people homeless and is guilty of gross incompetence or reckless indifference to his obligation to execute the laws faithfully; and
WHEREAS, President Bush recently admitted to and defended his administration’s practice of ordering the secret surveillance of American citizens by the National Security Agency, without any court warrant, in violation of the United States Constitution and the Federal Intelligence Security Act; and
WHEREAS, It is essential that should a full and fair investigation of the above points lead to prosecution and even impeachment that there must be more Democrats in the House and Senate so that appropriate actions can be adequately pursued; and
WHEREAS, In order to take action pending the results of such investigation it is incumbent on all Democrats to diligently focus their efforts on taking back the House and Senate in 2006; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors requests that Congress demand a full investigation into the charges alleged above, demand accountability and move to prosecute offenders as appropriate, up to and including impeachment where appropriate; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That Democratic members update the American people as to their progress or lack thereof, and if they are being stonewalled by the Administration that Democrats can then highlight these tactics and ask all Americans to help push for the truth; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That Board of Supervisors directs the Clerk of the Board to send copies of this resolution to Statewide elected officials, the State Democratic Party, the Democratic National Committee, Representative Nancy Pelosi, Senators Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, all members of the House Judiciary Committee; and, be it
FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors requests that the State Democratic Party prioritize this effort as one of their top ten priorities, and that the San Francisco and the State Democratic Party drum up public support for a full and thorough investigation while focusing on taking back the United States House of Representatives and United States Senate by organizing rallies, spearheading letter writing campaigns to newspapers, organizing petition drives, door-knocking in neighborhoods, handing out leaflets and deploying the full range of mobilizing tactics.
