The New and “Improved” MUNI (edit this)
Today, I had to take the T-Third Street Rail to Dogpatch for an appointment. As I waited for the train at Civic Center, I heard a voice over the loud speaker say, “The T-Train is at the Church Station.”
On the way back, I just missed a T-train. When I got onto the platform, the sign noted “2 minutes.” Two minutes went by and the sign then said “three minutes and 15 minutes.” I chuckled-and then I heard someone called out “Hey lady.” I turned around and a bus driver was leaning out of his window with the bus sign stating “Shuttle.”

Looking for Books on el Dia de los Libros (edit this)
In the Curriculum Meeting, the Board of Education were told that SFUSD has more students speaking Spanish in their homes-than any other language.
So I was delighted to see that el Dia de los Libros (the Day of Books) was going to be celebrated today at Dolores Park.
At Dolores Park, the children received “passports.” If they completed three art activities, they got a free book. The activities included creating a candy necklace, a paper sock puppet and milagro (cut-out designs on paper). The SF Children’s Art Center had a booth where the students could make (and take) a book.

Reaffirming A Daughter’s Dream (edit this)
My friend Catania first said, “Do you want to go to a roller derby?”
I laughed and said no.
She said, “My daughter, Danielle has always wanted to be in the roller derby. And now she’s in the Bay City Bombers. She’s the mother of my grandchildren. She’s 39. Why would she do something like that? I can’t understand it”
I thought for a moment, “Because you taught her to go for any dream that she really wanted.”
“So what about the grandchildren?” Catania said.
“She’s teaching them the same lesson.” With that, I bought two tickets.

4-3 for Paraprofessional Layoffs Despite Kelly’s Eloquence (edit this)
The Board of Education reconvene its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. today to discuss the item that they had tabled at their regular meeting.
The issue was whether to lay off 15.41 paraprofessionals for 07-08. Under the Education Code, the District must give permanent employees 45 days notice-and school will end on June 12 (45 working days from this Sunday).
